My Dear Unkel [uncle?] Ned
               I now take the pleasior [pleasure?] off [of?] writting [writing?] you a 
Few Lines in answer off [of?] your Kind Letter 
that I reseived [received?] some [time?] ago I was glad 
too [to?] hear From you and that you are all 
well as this leaves me at present 
I am Sure you are very busy now at 
the hay and the turf I hear you have grate [great?] 
weather there this Summer that is good 
it would Take it the weather is very 
hot here it is terrible some time [sometimes?] it is 
hard when one is not used to it 
well I see that yous [you?] are going to have 
peace there now it is nearly time 
For it to come after a Long Fight 
iff [if?] it is any use when it did come 
it will not be so bad. I hope times will 
change now For the better now well I Like 
New York well For so Far it is a Fine

place I am working now I like my job 
well It is with a german Family I am 
Living there are nice peopel [people?] aroud [around?] them 
I am getting 45 dollars a month For a 
Start so i will get more Later when I 
know the way off [of?] every thing well I have not 
meet [met?] any one From around there yet only 
Hirrim [Hiram?] Robison [Robinson?] that Lived in the Raw [Row?]
when i was out in Alices [Alice’s?] in Loust [Locust?]Valley 
we had him in one night and had supper 
with him he Likes it well he is a 
Littled [little?] Changed since I seen him 
Last Well Rose and Family are well 
also Alice & Johnnie is Fine and all 
the Rest Mrs Carroll is well she bes [is] 
in Rose house some times and we were 
down in her house one night She has 
a nice place also Mrs Jimmie Carroll 
we be there some times to [too?] Well Unkle [uncle?] I have 
not mutch [much?] news at present I  Will send more next 
time as I am in a hurry at present I hopping [hoping?] to 
Find Mrs and Children well and Hopes to 
hear From you soon again close with 
sending my best love to you and all
