Dear Unkle [uncle?]
                 I drope [drop?] you a few Lines to Let you 
no [know?]
we are well hopping [hoping?] to Find you the same 
and that we have Landed safe we had 
a very plesent [pleasant?] voage [voyage?] the weather was 
Fine all the way we were 12 days 
Comming [coming?] the Algeria is a very slow 
boat it Takes her so Long coming [coming?] 
We had a good time on the [deleted] her we were 
only sick a few hours so that was 
not so bad there was some people 
sick all the way it is a terrible 
sickness there were 2 men went over 
board it was terrible to see them 
dround [drowned?] that keept [kept?] us Longer Looking 
For them did not get them
Rose come [came?] to meet us she is well 
alice is well to [too?] also Johnnie. he is Fine

and was asking For you all he is very 
tall if you seen [saw?] him you would 
not no [know?] him he is worken [working] every day 
he and Roses [Rose’s?] man work at the Ice  
Johnnie is earing [earning?] about £7 a week 
Alice is no change on her she never 
got a bit bigger I am out in her place 
in Loust [Locust?] Valley it is a very nice 
place she has a very nice house 
her man is a Carrptenener [carpenter?] he 
Has a bout [about] [£ deleted] £8 a week so there is 
good money to be erned [earned?]  here I have 
not seen Mrs Carroll yet Rose and 
us are going to see Unkle [uncle?] Johnnie 
next week so we will be fit to tell 
you more next Letter so I have not 
mutch [much?] more to say at present hopping [hoping?]
Children and Mrs is well tell them 
I was asking For Them so I must 
drow [draw?] to a close with sending my 
best to you all
