I now take up my pen
to let you know that
I am enjoying good 
health at present
Thanks be to God for
his kind mercies to me
and hope these few
lines will find you
enjoying the same

of my own money I 
was going to send it
to my dear grandfather
and grandmother I am 
sorry they did not live
to enjoy it I thought
to remember my dear

Cousin Samuel other 
time but now I send
my dear little namesake
this pound to buy him
a new suit dear uncle
and aunt I return you 
my sincere thanks
For nameing [naming?] your
firstborn after me
My mother returns your
her sincere thanks for
nameing [naming?] your child 
for me  mother sends
love to all the old neighbors
She wished you to answer
this as soon as it comes
