Dear Doctor Smyth
Just a line to say that I
saw Mrs & Miss Smyth off safe & well at Moville,
on "Columbia" this Evg. [Evening?] I gave Mrs
Smyth the orginal "Deed of Revocation" of Gully's
Power of attorney; fully consulated, stamped
sealed &c. I introduced them to the Ships doctor
& the captain & I am sure they will be very well
looked after & be quite comfortable.
Dr Glover is a very fine young fellow & I am
sure will do the best he can for them.
Revd Mr Hay a clergyman from your
neighbourhood & your nephew young Mr Ingran were
also [down?]
The weather conditions at this time of the year
are most favourable & are likely to last so
everything points to their having a very good voyage &
I hope Mrs Smyth will be able to do good business
[over?] the Purley affair when she gets to New Orleans.
I hope you will not feel excessively lonely during
their absence. If you do we will all do the best
we can to cheer you up anytime you come into town
here.
                          faithfully Yrs [Yours?]
                           Philip O Hagan
