            Philadelphia 20th July 1828

Dear Brother
I have long waited an oppertunity
[opportunity?] [sic] writing to you by hand, but could
not find one. I therefore send you these few lines by
Post (as I understand you are anxious for one) to inform
that we are all well at present thanks be to god for his
mercies hoping these may find you all in the same. I recd
[received?] the letter by Wm [William?] Money [Mooney?]
and all was sent which I am thankful for your kindness,
you mentioned About sending some Clover seed which I could
have done without any trouble but could not find a vessel
going to belfast I could sent it to Liverpool by the
packet which leaves here every month but not knowing how
it would be forwarded I did not send it, but if you can
make arrangements and let me know I will send it this fall.

I also recvd [received?] one from Agness [Agnes?] Dated
Jany 21 1828 for the first ever I heard of her or Mother
since I came here. I also recvd [received?] one from you
Dated April 1 1828 the 17th May in the post office the
evening the Elizabeth Ann arved [arrived?]. I would have
wrote you an ansr [answer?] one by one but I could not get
it sent by hand. I blamed you very much for not writing. I
thought you had forget [forgotten?] me. But I beleive
[believe?] the fault was neither thine nor mine, there
was one of the greatest villains for Postmaster that
ever was unhung he detained letters

[Page 2]
several times from
John after I had asked them which I could have got him
brake for if I only had proved it but for simelar [similar?]
offences he has got Cashiered and an honest man is now
whom I got the last from. I believe I would never have
got one by post had he been in office. It was all a fuss
about Stewart not knowing where I lived he and his Brother
brot [brought?] letters frequently from John to the house
when they were peddling and has since the [they?] came
last. The evening before he sailed I was with him in his
friend Stotts and gave him my letter. James brown left
here this week and was very much displeased when he heard
that [they?] had recvd [received?] his letter and did not
send an ansr [answer?].
We have had A fine open Winter without either frost or
snow and a pleasant Summer and the earliest harvest ever
I knew it was mostly all settled in June and A very plentiful
crop, Markets of every kind are low at present. I seen Hugh
Money [Mooney?] a few days ago and Wm [William?] is gone to
the Jerseys to work this Summer.

If I get the opportunity of writing
by hand I shal [shall?] write more fully in it. Since I sat down
to write I heard of A man going to Derry in the same ship which
if I find him out I shall send by hand.

There is a new post office established within two squares of
where I live for what is called penn [Pennsylvania?] township
and I am well acquainted with the post master I get Johns
letters that way now as soon as the [they?] arrive they are
sent to the house to me.
Give my love to Mother Shusanna [Susanna?] an [and?] Agness
[Agnes?]. have no more to say at preset [present?] but remains
your affectionet [affectionate?] Brother
Nathaniel Taylor
