 My darling Mamma
            I have been very busy
all morning getting the cooking
room cleaned out & now I have
not much time before the post comes.
I think the cooking room will
be greatly improved of couse it will
look better when it gets white washed
but at least you can see around it
now - we are all well & flourishing
D. & I were over at the manse yesterday
Rev & Mrs J. Johnson of [Cumber?]
called and we gave them a swell tea
out of our fine things.
David is fixing the sewing machines;
but I am sorry to say he seems to
be having a very hard time over the
stitches - However it will do them
good to be used a little as they are
getting rusted
The weather keeps warm & damp - The old
man is fixing his microscope specimens
- he thinks he has made a great discovery
in [mounting?] them
I don't know what it is but he explained
it to D. [David?] & wrote a long letter to
Mr Thompson at R Smiths about it - I read
the letter when he was out killing weeds
on the gravel I got up to breakfast this
morning for a change. I am fine - Hope to
hear from you today Have had no letter
since the 12th.
         Your devoted little
          girl Arthe
