NewYork Aug 27th 1856.
Mr Vere Foster, the bearer
of this has been introduced to me
[inmore?] auspires highly honourable
to himself and to the cause in
which he is engaged. That cause
is philanthropy and has a reference
to the emigration of poor persons
from Europe, or, I might better say,
from Ireland to this Country.
As he desires to consult Catholic
Clergymen and others in the United
States + Canada on this subject I beg leave
to commend him to the kind after
him of such Catholic Clergymen
as he may have reason to call
on.
