TO
MR. SINCLAIR HOLDEN
GOING TO AMERICA.
HOLDEN, may Heaven your gallant vessel save,
And guide it swiftly o'er the Atlantic wave;
And. safe arriv'd on fair Colombian shore,
May you, with grateful heart, your God adore !
May you, like Joseph, trusted, lov'd, and prais'd,
To wealth and honour in Quebec be rais'd !
May you, as here, go settle where you will,
Be known for worth, integrity, and skill,
Live in the guidance of protecting grace,
And favour find with all the human race,
And now with grief my begins to swell,
I drop the pen, for heavy thoughts impel
My heart to fear - I take my last FAREWELL !
