THE ATLANTIC STEAMSHIP TRADE. - NOTWITHSTANDING
the universal
dullness of Trade, the Cunard Company
are carrying more passengers
than they have ever done; and in view of
Transatlantic postal charges at the end of the
present year, they are, like wise
men, setting their house in order, and in accordance
with the tradition of the firm, are going to sell
their older ships and construct more vessels of a
class more suited to the service. The moving
spirits of the company - with shrewd foresight -
have resolved not to renovate their, older ships,
but rather to replace them with vessels of a more
modern type. This betokens a vigourous policy,
and it is to the credit of the Cunard Company that
their prestige has been gained and kept ever
changing to the changing character of the times,
- Morning Post.
