ARRIVAL OF AMERICAN PROVISIONS IN BELFAST- Two vessels of
large tonnage, the Alvorado and Tarolinta, have arrived in
Belfast, direct from New York, with full cargoes of Indian corn
and other "bread stuffs" and small consignments of cured beef
&c. The Tarolinta alone has 15,423 bushels of wheat, and 13,234
bushels of maize. So large a quantity of the latter was being
ground in this neighbourhood, previous to the rains, that the
water mills could not supply the demand. We understand that
other cargoes of a similar description will be landed here
from the States in the course of the season. The present
are the first cargoes that have arrived direct at Belfast
from New York for upwards of fifteen years.
