Irish Emigration Increases: 1859

IRISH EMIGRATION. - The emigration from Irish ports
for the year 1859 amounted to 84,592, being in
excess of last year not less than 16,506. Ulster
shows the largest extent of emigration. The Census
of 1851 shewed an increase after the famine of
1,622,739; but it is a startling fact that since 1851
there has been a decrease in the population of
Ireland of 563,565.
