Ship Cataraque, Wrecked at Kings Island.
The emigrant ship, Cataraque, Captain C.W. Finlay, which sailed from Liverpool for Newfoundland, on the 20th of April last with 369 emigrants, and a crew, including two doctors, named Carpenter (brother), of forty- six, was wrecked on a reef, on the west coast of kings Island, entrance of Bass's Straits, on the night of the 3rd of August, and out of 415 persons on board only nine lives were saved. The emigrants were principally from Bedfordshire, Staffordshire, Yorkshire, and Northamptonshire.Close
