d; 2 & various circumstances relating to the agriculture and population of ire/tmd, and whieh do not apply to GYeätf £nVßi«, render it peculiarly expedient, that for the purpose of further encouraging the industry and enterprize of owners, farmers, and occu-piers of land, and rendering the inconaes arising from Titlies there, more certain in amount, and more easy of collection, and of avoiding controversies respecting the same, provision should be made for theautho-rizing Compositions to be made for Tithes in /«/«/«/ only, to endure for a time to be limited ;

by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the Authority of the same, THAT at any time after the passing of this Act, it shall be lawful for the Lord Lieutenant, or other chief governor or governors i ^ of /re/ßwd, upon the application of the rector, vicar or other ecclesi-

astical ineumbent, or of any impropriator or other person or persons entitled to any tithes or portion of tithes, or of any Five or more of the owners or oecupiers of land, each holding or possessing lands of the yearly value (if owners) or at the yearly rent (if oecupiers) of not less 20 than Twenty pounds, in any parish in /re/V/rad, to give orders and di-

rections from time to time, when and as such Lord Lieutenant, or other chief governor or governors, shall think proper, to the churchwardens of any such parish, sueh orders and directions to be signified to such churchwardens by the chief secretary to the Lord Lieutenant, or other 25 Chief governor or governors of Trc/tf/w/, or in his absence by the under
