A DETAILED ACCOUNT OF THE ESTABLISHMENT tl e Collection of the Customs (exclusive of the Preventive Establishment) at the Port of 

jjj and the Out-Ports of Ireland ; stating the number of Persons of each Class, and the respective amount of Salaries. 

SIR, 

Custom House, Dublin, nth March 1822. 

THE Commissioners of His Majesty's Customs having received your letter of the 7th instant, transmitting a copy of a renewed Order of the House of Commons, for a detailed Account of the Establishment for the Collection of Customs, &c. 
and urging the necessity of their causing the said Return to be sent to you with all possible dispatch, with an explanation of the causes which have or still may retard a compliance therewith ;— I am commanded to transmit to you herewith, (in duplicate) the Return above required, and, in explanation of the apparent delay, have to state that the Order of the 8th ultimo was received here on the 14th; at which time, and for several days afterwards, the Officer who had to prepare it, was occupied, when the current business would admit, in preparing the annual Accounts of Increase and Diminution, pursuant to the Act of 50 Geo. 
3, c. 
117; as also an Account of Offices abolished or reo-ulated in the six months to 1st ultimo, for Government and the Treasury; that the Return now transmitted required considerable attention, and an examination of the Compensation and Incident Accounts, as well as of the whole Establishment, and that it was prepared with every practicable dispatch consistent with the other duties of the Department.
