Notwithstanding this increase, it transpired from information
which became available during the year that the collection of this
tax is not fully enforced in some counties and we understand that
this matter is receiving Your Excellency's consideration.

There is nothing calling for special attention in the administra¬
tion of these Acts in the year under review. Particulars show¬

Owing to the decision of the Lords Commissioners of His
Majesty's Treasury that grants under the Unemployed Work¬
man Act should not be made during the financial year the activi¬
ties of Distress Committees have been generally suspended
