TO Amend the Law relating to Tithes in Ireland.

WHEREAS under section thirty-two of the Irish Church 

Act, 1869, and section seven of the Irish Church Act, 1869, Amendment Act, 1872, the Commissioners acting under those Acts (whose powers are now vested in the Irish Land Commission), were 5 empowered to sell any renteharge in lieu of tithes vested in them under the first-mentioned Act to the owner of the land charged therewith, in consideration of a sum equal to twenty-two-and-a-half times the amount of such rentcharge, less such sum in the pound, as such owner should he ascertained by the Commissioners to have 10 been on an average of five years preceding the passing of the said 

Irish Church Act, 1869, entitled to deduct for poor rates from the tithe rentcharge payable by him, and upon the application of any owner so purchasing by order to declare his purchase-money to be payable by instalments, and the land out of which such rentcharge 15 issued to be accordingly charged for fifty-two years, with an annual sum calculated at the rate of four pounds nine shillings per centum on the purchase-money : 

And whereas it is expedient to amend the said Acts, and make further provisions as to the redemption of tithe rentcharge: 20 Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :

This Act may be cited as the Tithe Renteharge (Ireland) Short title.

2. 
In this Act the expression " Land Commission" means the Interpreta-Irish Land Commission. 
3.—(1.) 
In any sale of a tithe rentcharge made after the passing Amendment of this Act by the Land Commission under the provisions of section °f J^011 7 80 seven of the Irish Church Act, 1869, Amendment Act, 1872, the
