For the appointing of Chaplains in Lunatic Asylums, County 

Infirmaries and Fever Hospitals in Ireland.

it is expedient to provide for the spiritual care and Preamhle. 
comfort of the inmates of District Lunatic Asylums, County Infirmaries and Fever Hospitals in Ireland, in like manner as same are now provided in Gaols in Ireland; 25d it tfjerefottf dSttaCtcO, by 5 The QUEEN's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the Advice 

and Consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the Authority of the same, THAT from and after the passing of this Act, it shall and may Power to be lawful for the several and respective Committees or Boards of ^aplains io Superintendence and Management of District Lunatic Asylums, 

County Infirmaries and Fever Hospitals in Ireland, to select a Chap¬ lain or Chaplains of the Established Church or Presbyterian or Roman Catholic persuasion, at a salary or salaries not to exceed Thirty Pounds per annum, to exercise clerical functions within the walls of 15 each such establishment, for the benefit of the inmates thereof for the 

time being, subject, however, to the approval of the Lord Lieutenant; such Chaplain to be selected from the Parochial Clergy wherein such Lunatic Asylum, County Infirmary or Fever Hospital is situate ; but in case they or one of them should decline to accept the same, then 2o in such manner as to the said Committee or Board of Superintendence 

shall seem meet, subject to the like approbation as aforesaid; the said salary or salaries to be paid out of the Grand Jury Rates half-yearly 343-
