To alter and amend the Acts of the Irish Parliament of the
Thirty-fifth Year of King George the Third, intituled, " An
Act for the better Education of Persons professing the
Popish or Roman Catholic Religion; " also, of the Fortieth
Year of King George the Third, intituled, " An Act for the
better Government of the Seminary established at Maynooth,
for the Education of Persons professing the Roman Catholic
Religion, and for amending the Laws now in force respecting
the said Seminary;" also, the Act of the British Parliament
of the Forty-eighth Year of King George the Third,
intituled, " An Act to amend two Acts passed in Ireland,
for the better Education of Persons professing the Roman
Catholic Religion, and for the better Government of the
Seminary established at Maynooth for the Education of
such Persons, so far as relates to the Purchase of Lands
and compounding Suits/^


by an Act passed in the Parliament of Ireland Preamble;
in the thirty-fifth year of the reign of his late Majesty King ^
5 George the Third, intituled, "An Act for the better Education of Per¬
sons professing the Popish or Roman Catholic Religion," it was, amongst
other things, enacted, that the Lord Chancellor, or Lord Keeper of the
Great Seal of Ireland, the Lord Chief Justice of the King's Bench,


the Lord Chief Justice of the Common Pleas, and the Lord Chief
10 Baron of the Court of Exchequer in Ireland, and their successors,


together with certain individuals named in the said Act, and the
persons to be thereafter elected in their stead, pursuant to the pro¬
visions therein contained, should be Trustees for the purpose of esta¬
blishing, endowing and maintaining one Academy for the education
only of persons professing the Roman Catholic Religion j and it
