Kells (1854 - 1929) who lived in Port Kells, British Columbia.

October 29, 1917
Dear Brother
Just a few lines in answer to your letter
received a short time ago glad to know
you were all quite well. well we are all
well only the Boss he is not verry [very?] well.
The winter is coming and people that is
ailing never feel well in the Bad weather
This is a verry [very?] damp country. I think it
rains more here then it does in Ireland.
well Fred is gone over to France last month
My I do wish this dreadful war was over
the poor Soldier must have a sad time
There is quite a few of them came Back to
vancouver all Shot up it must be
lamentable to see them. well dear george
I often think of home & Father & Mother & when
we were children & the good times we [youst?]
to have picking wild strawberries and
gathering wild Flowers up along Black
neds fields that is up along the face of the
mountain. it was verry [very?] nice round Ballyconnell
I would love to go back to see our old Home
I suppose all the people I youst to know round
Ballyconnell are all dead I wonder if little
Baldy Jones is alive yet if he is I suppose
the wife has to search the Bead to find him.
well we finished our potatoes last week they
are not a verry [very?] good crop this year plenty of small
ones and some rotten. we had a good crop of oats
& turnips. we send our milk to the Factory
it is a lot of bother making butter. well I haven't
got much news this time. oh I am expecting
Emy up soon. She was up last June and staid
5 weeks. She is verry [very?] Fond of Harry they
do have great times when she is up. well I will be
pleasd [pleased?] to hear from you at any time.
