Dear Cousin Charlotte,
Here I am back in ST Louis again, for the past 3 weeks.
Conditions are about the same in this Campbell Estate. I have not
seen Hazlett, since my return but his Guardian tells me he is just
the same condition, they cannot see any change.
(1)It is now established that the descendants of
Grandfather Andrew Campbell, brother of Robert Campbell, will be the
collateral heirs of Hazlett K. Campbell Estate, but first can
you locate the date of birth of Hugh and Elizabeth Buchanan.
Campbell’s children as mentioned in his last will 1808 he
mentions James A. as his eldest son but I understand he
died in early youth and was not married can we
establish this a legal fact? Also he mentions two
Daughters Elizabeth J. and Anna, neither one of these girls
were married. I understand Elizabeth was the eldest
and died in early girlhood and we know Aunt Ann
never married and was aged when she died, can we get
the true facts.
(2)We have the date of the births of Grandfather
Andrew Campbell’s ten children, eight girls and two boys,
all were married and had children that was but one
that didn’t have children. Aunt Bessie Robinson, all
are dead as I understand Virginia Hamilton was the last
to pass away.
(3)We understand the Probate Court will make

that are living the same as my mothers share will
be divided between Mary and I should be both be
living, but should I die my two boys would receive
my share my point is you cannot make a will you
have to be living and you have no heirs.
(4)I wish to have a complete individual
family tree of each child of Andrew Campbell that
I can file as I stated before with the one mentioned
As to Hugh Campbell’s children. I understand
Uncle Robert Boyle Campbell died in Glasgow,
Scotland, and his entire family is dead I wonder
if we could get these facts, as when he was married
To whom the date of children birth if married
and etc.
I hear from cousin Margaret Johnson often
she is well it is surprising to see how improved
my sister Mary, she is able to walk alone and
go out into riding, anything new develops here
I will let all know. With love and kindest
regards to all your sisters and brother Hugh
Very truly yours
Chas. H. Clarke.
