Hugh Campbell [of Letterbrath?], b. about 1700 or earlier, had a son named
John Campbell, of Letterbrath, who married Margaret McFarland
of Leardin. John owned considerable property in the townlands
of Letterbrath, Aughalane, Oughtboy, Glenone, Glencoppag
Eden, and Beragh.  He had 3 sons – I. Hugh II Andrew  
III John.

I. Hugh married (1) Catherine Denny (2) Elizabeth Buchanan. 
Both supposed to be from Sixmilecross district, but Elizabeth
Buchanan was probably from the townland of Beragh
in the parish of Cappagh.(See Assignment of 
30 Sept. 1735, Wm. Buchanan to John Campbell), 
“Beragh” should not be mistaken for the village and
townland of the same name in the parish of Clogherne
By Catherine Denny he had

(a) Sarah, m. Wm. Campbell, Derbrough, and was
 mother of (1) “Big  Ann”, (2) Catherine (m. Samuel
Anderson, Derbrough), (3) Sarah (m. Hamilton 
Campbell & went to America), (4) Matilda (m. James
Campbell, Plumbridge), (5) Eliza (m. James McCalla)
(6) Margery (m. - Clarke), (7) Margaret
(m. Hugh Armstrong, Derbrough), (8) Hugh [m.
Isabella Dudgeon), (9) John (m.- Omagh), 
(10) Wm. James (went to America,), (11) Robert
(d. young)

(b) Margaret, m. Rev. Robert Reid, Donemanna,
Carrick, probably the “Robert Reid”, youngest son
of James Reid, farmer,  of the farm of Tydavnett,
Co. Monaghan, who matriculated in Glasgow
University in 1787, and took a theological
course in the Associate (Burgher) Hall.
She was mother of Andrew, Hugh, Sarah

(b)Hugh, m, in U.S.A., Mary Kyle, from Mountfield 
and had no family. Died -.-
(c)Robert [d. 16 Oct.1879], m. in, U.S.A., Virginia  Kyle,
niece of his brother Hugh’s wife and was father
of James Alexander (d. in Paris, 13 July 1890, aged 26),
Hugh(d.   1931) and Hazlett
(d)James Alexander (died young)
(e)Eliza (died young)
(f)Ann (d. unmarried, at Aughalane  House,
20 March 1876, aged 84.

(II)  Andrew, of Lower Derbrough. Nothing known of him except 
that he owned land in Gleniane, and was alive on 16 Feb
1780 (see Deed of that date).

(III) John. “John Campbell ye younger” is mentioned in a
Lease of 24 November 1768.

m. 9th Sept. 1822, Elizabeth Boyle [d. 12th March 1875, aged 80
and had
(1)Bessie,  m. 3rd July 1872, John Robinson, Donemanna, and
d. without issue, 4th Dec. 1896, aged 77.
(2)Mary [b. 1824, d. 1899] m, 7th April 1846, her cousin
Andrew Clarke, Maghera. They went to America in 1856.
She was mother of Mary [b.1847] who married in 1868

(8) Hugh Kyle [d. 10 Augt 1877], m. 1 Dec, 1859, Mary
Jane, daughter of Rev. John Moore, MA, and was
father of Alexander Albert (m. 1913, Lily Robinson)
(9) Robert Doyle, m. 1867, Jane McFarland and was
father of Andrew James (m. Jane Douglas, and
