          Philadelphia  June 22nd  1873

                 Dear friends I suppose by this
Yous [you?] think I am forgetting to rite [write?] 
but I am not but I had nothing
particular to rite [write? ] to yous [you?] but we
are all in pretty [pretty?] good health at
present thank God hoping this will
reach yous [you?] all enjoying the same blessing
We are all at work as usual  Mitilda
and I got our likeness taken last week
and I am sending 2 of the pictures to
yous [you?] and 2 to Elisa and 2 to Magy
The reason of the dark shade on my
feiturs [features?] is I had on black clothing
Mary Anne and Seragh was intend
to have their taken but Mary Anne
had not time  she is gowing [going?] out to
the country with the gentleman
and lady she lives with to spend
the summer to a place called Newport
it is in Jersey county  Seragh is gowing [going?]
with her people to Atlantic City to
spend the summer in about 2 weeks

The Gentry of this city generally
dose [does?] gow [go?] out to the country to spend
the summer  I am working this last 
month quite convenient to home
about 10 minutes walk  I can come in
to my dinner the building I am at
is a new Presbyterian church  The churches
is prety [pretty?] large here this church and schoolroom
stands on more than an acre of ground
We had nice cool weather here until
now it apeers [appears?] to strike in very hot this
is the warmest day  we had yet  we
went to see Edward Park and we
found great pleasure in talking about
the friends at home  I do not now [know?] if
he has got into work or not  you told
me that William Ellis would like to
now [know?] if I could find out anything of his
son I was once in Sam Carsons but the [they? 
moved from there and I do not know 
their whereabouts now but I heard that all
the Darraghs out South were dead but

Mitilda and Catherine and Seragh was out
    on an excursion on Friday and 
Mary Anne came to gow [go?] but she
declined and stopped at home the Laidy [lady?] Seragh
lives with bought a ticket for her this 
Excursion belonged to the Grace Mission
Church that is the church we gow [go?]to all
houses of worship here is latest Churches 
it was about 25 miles out of the city at
a place called Chester hights  [Heights?] I heard
that William Graham of Seagehill had
went home but I did not know any
thing of it for a week after he was in my 
house once and invited us out to see him
to the country he said if we wouldnt 
he never would come to see us again we could
not get gowing [going?] and I suppose he was offended
I was glad to hear of my mother having
tolerable good health and I hope it will
continue  I hope the weather will  be
fine with yous [you?] this summer and that yous [you?] 
will have abundant crops for I understand
last seasons crop was near all lost

Please rite [write?] soon as we are
Always glad when we get a letter
to hear of your being all well  Mr. Hutchinson
that was home there paid us a visit about
a month ago he stopped 2 days and went on
to his place again he said he would gow [go?]
on to Ireland again and intended to be
home for the June Fair  no more but

Thomas & Martha is well and send
their kind respects to yous [you?] they have  an addition
to the family of a young daughter
I do not remember if I sent this in 
last letter  it is a fine looking baby
All the rest of the friends here as far as I know are well
