Dear Sir, - August 31, 1891 you wrote Mrs. B.
Marshall, widow of Benjamin Marshall, who was the son
of Richard Marshall of your place, that there was sum
of money left to Benjamin Marshall and that Mrs. Marshall,
if she is the widow of Benjamin Marshall will be entitled
to it. She wrote you October 11, 1891 regarding the matter.
In answer to her letter you wrote on December 9, 1891,
suggesting that she make an affidavit that she was the
widow of Benjamin Marshall and as such claim the money;
that upon doing so you would pay same to her.
Your letters are now in my office. A long time ago Mrs.
Marshall made the affidavit covering the point you
mentioned and in addition to that found an old friend
of Benjamin Marshall who knew her and who made a similar
affidavit. These were forwarded to you after being duly
sworn to but you have never answered, as I am informed.
Mrs. Marshall is a widow who has seen much trouble
and is poor and needs the money. I have made her no
charge for my services and it seems to me that in view
of her having written, there is no reason why you should
not reply to her and pay her the money as you said you
would, or give some good reason why you do not do it.
I write in the hope that you will promptly reply and
give me definite information about the matter. If there
is anything more that she needs to do, let me know that.
