Philadelphia, September 2nd 1871
Dear Friends I received your kind letter which gave us great
pleasure to here [hear?] of yous [you?] being well. I had got a
letter from Elisa Jane on the 10th of agust [August?] which grieved
us to hear the miserable life that Magy was getting. I sent a letter
righ [right?] home to Elisa stating what I thought best for Magy
to doo [do?] that was to leave the Child with his Father and to come
out here if Samuel was here he would find another way of it he
would soon get a new head put on him it would not be loafing
round the Corners of gortin and Omagh but I had a letter rote
[wrote?] to send to roosky [Roosky?] and when I got the letter
from Elisa I did not mind sending it but I understand by you
that she is went back to roosky [Roosky?] again. Margret
[Margaret?] Mellon is gon [gone?] home yesterday to Castletown
from here and Thomas has sent an acknoledgement
[acknowledgement?] to some little preasents [presents?] to his
Friends with her but if Magy is not intend [intending?] to stop
in rusky [Roosky?] doo [do?] not send any of these little
preasents [presents?] to it if wee [we?] had new [news?] of James
Arthur gowing [going?] wee [we?] would have sent it with him but
he never told us of gowing [going?]

We are all in good health at present but Metilda dose [does?] not
feel well for some time back. Maria taeks [takes?] her to one of
the best doctors in the City hee [he?] said she had a Liver Complaint
and he intends curing her. Archibald Calhoon is at the point of
Death and Elisa Carson came from New York to se him. She
intends to stop to see his remains laid in the grave the doctor said
he was of no use to him for it was the Frailties of old age as regard
the Little preasents [presents?] I wish to mention how the [they?]
are to be devided [divided?] Elisa Jane is to get the Blue Shawl and
Magy the purple one the [there?] are three Breast pins one for Joseph
one for Samuel McNickle on for Little William Park a pocket
handkerchief for Samuel Park and a black veal [veil?] for
Maryanne and a pipe and a package of [tobaco?] tobacco for my
mother and a ring for Mary Ain McNickle and a Little pocket
boock boock [book book?] for Magys Little Son this is but a small
acknowlegemet [acknowledgement?] but if the Lord spairs [spares?]
us our health as I trust he will we will not forget out friends at home
although we are far distant from yous [you?] at present.
