Death of Mary Jane Magill, Baltimore
DIED. On the 8th inst. Feast of the Immaculate Conception, tranquilly departed this life, aged 34 years, Mary Jane, the loved wife of Daniel Magill, and daughter of Mr. Charles O'Neill, Ballymena, Ireland. Her remains were taken to the Cathedral, where her Confessor and kind friend Rev. Mr. Foley, celebrated Mass for the repose of her soul, and feelingly referred to her imitating the hidden life of the Blessed Virgin, whom she had taken for her model; also to her outward life and virtues, in constantly attending to all the duties of religion, and never neglecting one to her family, to all the requirements of society, and the edification of the neighbour, and to her perfect resignation in the Divine Will, in bearing a long and painful illness, which she knew would terminate fatally, without even one word of complaint, but on the contrary always cheerful and trying to make those around her happy. Her remains are deposited in the Catholic Cemetery, there to lie until the coming again of her dear Lord, whom she so fondly loved and faithfully served. A husband and seven children mourn their great loss. May she rest in peace. ["Catholic Mirror," Baltimore, Dec. 19.] Transcribed by James TuffClose
