                                    New York June 14th 1836
Dear Mother I take this opportunity
of informing you that I am well
I have much reason of thankfulness
for the mercies I enjoy in this Country
having always had good health here.
I heard the account of Fathers death
This spring together with many other
things relating to my old acquaintances
Dear Mother I hope you will [e?]mpl[o?]y
the short time you have to spend here
To the best purposes that is making sure
An interest in the Atonement of Christ
As we must all shortly follow Father to
the silent mansions of the dead
We hear every thing of importance
that is done in the old Country
there is so many coming in every month
I have seen Ann this spring she was
Well at that time this season has been
very brisk & wages high for every kind
of Mechanics.      last Winter was very
hard & markets extremely high of all kinds
& Continues to be so this letter goes by
John Hunter I had some thoughts of
Going along but I will not go at this time
I send you by him 1 lb best [?]yson Tea
I wrote your name on the paper in
Two or three places expecting it will
go safe.
I have not heard of Robert these three
years past neither can I find out
Any account of him.  I have
No other particulars to mention at
this time give my best respects
to Brothers & Sisters relatives & all
enquiring friends & neighbours I remain
