Augusta Ga [Georgia?] 11th June 1877
W. J. C. Allen Esq
Belfast
My Dear Sir
It affords me great pleasure to introduce to
your friendly acquaintance the beau (sic) my esteemed
and honoured Pastor who has been appointed by the Genl
[General?] Assembly of the Southern Presbyterian Church
to represent them at the "Pan Prest [Presbyterian?]
Council" in Edinburgh.
Dr. Irvin is a native of Co. Down and while it is nearly
a quarter of a century since he first left Belfast, he
like myself, may feel comparatively a stranger in his
native home. The Dr. carries letters of credit from
Messrs. Branch Sons & Co. and should he require to use
them in Belfast or elsewhere I doubt not he can readily
do so without any difficulty.
Any attention you may be able to bestow upon him while
in Belfast will be duly appreciated and confer a lasting
favour on myself.
The Dr. will be able to give you a great deal of news
about any of your old friends here and especially in
reference to the last days of our mutual friend Mr.
Robt. [Robert?] Campbell.
I had the pleasure of dropping you a line a few weeks ago
since which I have nothing special to add. With kind
remembrances to your family and Miss Carr & Blackwood I
am Dr [Dear?] Sir
Yours most Sincerely
Thos. [Thomas?] W. Coskery.
