Isaac Moorhead, of Killinchy, took us to visit in the
community. He had many relatives in southern
Ohio. In his company we had a delightful drive
through that part of the country. He gave us its
history. In his company we visited Mr Jas. [James?] Gourley,
a magistrate, church treasurer, and influential man
in the community. He gave us many valuable facts.
He is preparing a history of the presbyterian
Church of Killinchy. When this is completed we
hope to receive a copy. At his home we had the
pleasure of meeting other ladies and gentleman.
We enjoyed this part of our visit very much. In
addition to these visits we had the pleasure of seeing
Mr John Patterson and his family. He is an
old gentleman with a wonderful memory. He
could recall the genealogy of the Patterson and
Gourley families, and gave us facts accessible
nowhere else. His family were very kind. He has
two sons in Chicago. It is wonderful how many
in the three kingdoms are bound by family
ties to the Republic of the West.
