12.01.1861 Contains an account of Belfast shipping and
mentions that in 1859 it showed a decrease for the first
time in thirty years. Also that the "Queen of the West"
was the largest vessel that ever came to our quays, she
was put on the Belfast Register in 1860. It also mentions
that in the foreign going list are two remarkable ships,
one was a privateer during the last American war and the
other was built over 30 years ago by Mr Alex. McLaine [McLean?]. The largest Belfast owned ship is the America
owned by Messrs J & T Sinclair (1673 tons) The largest
owner is also Sinclairs with 12704 tons next Corrys with
7411 tons.
