8 SEVENTY-SIXTH ANNUAL REPORT OF THE [1907-1908. 
The construction of an approach road 270 feet in length from the quay to the fore¬ shore. 
The removal of certain rocks. 
The works carried out during the year consisted of preliminary rock excavation and the collection of materials. 
Good progress has since been made. 
The expenditure during the year has been as follows:—

£250,000 was provided by this Act from the Irish Church Fund for building and improving Fishery Piers and Harbours. 
The balance of this grant—£3,000—which had remained in the hands of the Irish Land Commission, was drawn in September, 1906, to meet the requirements of the service.

Of the sum of £100,000 allocated for works under the Marine Works Act, a sum of £39,325 was expended up to the close of the financial j^ear. 
The unexpended balance as from 31st March, 1908, was £60,675, but this balance includes not only the sum necessary to complete the works now in progress, but also a large sum which was provisionally set aside for expenditure upon the Inishlyre scheme in the Co. 
Mayo.
