My Dear Albert and Wife :-
Your letter of August 27, received a few days ago was glad
to hear from you I thought you would enjoy seeing the write up of Robert Campbell, as he was one of the builders of St Louis, and Kansas city.
Yes I listened to the Court hearing of the two brothers
by the name of (FURMAN), claiming Hugh Campbell, promised to adopt them as
his children, it lasted from the 6th until the 11th, June, it was not before
a Jury but just before Circut Court Judge Hamilton, he reviewed the evidence
one month then in a lenghtly [lengthy] decision that they were not adopted and he
never had any intention to do so but their Attys. took an appeal, it was Yale
Colledge [College], Attorneys, defended as by the Will of Hugh Campbell, Yale College
gets the most of his Estate.
I was instructed by the Probate Court, of St. Louis, Judge
Holdcamp, to petition this Court, for appointment of Administrator for Robert
Campbell, Estate, I presented this PETITION, April 20th, 1933, and deposited
$25.00 for any expense, a hearing was had on June 21st, the onely [only] opposition
was by Allen C. Orrick, Atty. and one of Hazletts’ Trustees, he stated that Robert Campbell, Estate, was devided [divided] in March 1885, I stated that the real
estate was devided [divided] at that date and so recorded, but was not carried out also
that the personal property, such as money, bonds, household goods, dimonds [diamonds],
were never divided, that no legal audit or appraisement is on record.
I think you took a copy of the Trust Deed made by Robert
Campbell, and his wife, dated February 15, 1877, this was recorded October 30th,
1879, fifteen days after Robert Campbell, death, if you do not have a copy
I will be glad to send you one, also on Nov. 15, 1926, Hugh Campbell, made ag[?]
idatot[?] and it recorded that his father died Oct.15, 1879. Intestate and
his mother died January 31, 1892, Intestate, this is considered acknowledge-
ment that this was a Trust Estate, for the three sons, that Hazlet, is the
onely[only] one left and cannot be settled until his death, if you care for a
copy of this affidavit I will gladly send it to you I have done my best to establish our kinship to Robert Campbell, this includes all of grandfather Andrew Campbells, (HEIRS), I go bach[back] to St. Louis , in two weeks.
