My Dear Sir,
I received yours this morning relating to two
young men being engaged for Service in the United
States and in this town and neighbourhood in my opinion
and from all I can learn there is no such thing at
present going on nor are there any vessels about to sail
from this Port for America. I have set a watch on all
strangers and if the [least?] [stir?] takes place, let
it be ever so [--------?] you shall hear from me.
[Sgt?] H.J. Browning [hopes?] to [obtain?] that the
[peaceable?] July in the town as far as I can learn is
much regretted that a war should take place between
this country and the United States of America. Every
exertion will be made to trace over our American Agents
if there should be any in the town. There are agents
here for Australia to which colony the [---------?]
twice [the?] attention.
