Dear Brother as you say
after a long silance [silence?] we receved
[received?] your kind and welcome letter
on the 20th of May which gave
us great pleasure to know
that you Mrs and famly [family?] were
all well as this leave [leaves?] us
and famly [family?] well I was sorry
to hear of my Brothers Death
please when you write let
me know wheare [where?] his Weadow [Widow?]
and famely [family?] is and how the [they?]
are doing -ear?] sur [sure?] you give
us a long list of your famely [family?]
with names which we will
give you a return of ours

now let you know how we
get along I have no land of
my own I rent and work

croap [crop?] so that I am my own
Master we keep one span
of horses four milchs cows
five heads of young catle [cattle?]
ten sheep two hogs fifty
hens thirty gees [geese?] and a nomber [number?]
of ducks and turkys [turkeys?] Sur [Sure?] I
say of a truth that it takes
about eight hundred pounds
of poark [pork?] for our house for the
year Dear Brother before
I cloase [close?] I want you to find
where my uncle Robert is
if him and Mrs is well I would
like to hear from them
now Dear Brother as you
giving [given?] me a nameseak [namesake?]
I must send him a keep
seak [keepsake?] of Canada coin value
for four shillings starling [sterling?]
now I come to a cloase [close?]
write as this comes to hand
and I will awnser [answer?] the
famely [family?] all joins with me
in sending there [their?] Respects
