My Dear Bella
               Just a few lines
in answer to your kind and
Welcome letters which I receved [received?]
Allwright [alright?] and was very
glad to see by It that yous {you?]
are all well. We are all well
here at present but I was very
bad my self [myself?] this last week
with a sore throat I could
hardly speak but It is
a lot better this day Thank
God. I think it was cold
I got coming over in the
Boat and It just came
with me now. Well. I was
glad to get your letter as
you send so much news
                     in it

Side 2

Its terrible to think of the
Hughes being away I thought
Maggie would not go without
Mick Devine but I suppose
some one [someone?] was saying the
same about myself.
I hope your Mother and
Johny is well. I often thought
of her when my throat
was sore. She was so
lucky I was saying if
I was at home It would be
run for Biddy I hope
them times will all come
again Well This is Halloweve [Halloween?]
night its the first Halloeve [Halloween?]
I have ever been from
home. I think It long enough
But Uncle Mick and his wife
came here and his son

Side 3

John C Donnelly and his
wife We had great music
but still I think of last
year when we run to your
house with a mouthful of
water and we made such
a noise on the street that
 you came out I hope
P McKillen is well not
forgetting his comrade James
Patt. I suppose John is
away by this time Its [Its?]
terrible I hate to think of
him going so far. I hope
the [they?] are all well at home
We see Minnie McCrystals [McCrystals?]
boy often He is a nice
fellow. Thats Mr Ward
that was home. Well tell
       Johny that If I was

Side 4

near him Id [Id?] give him a talking
to but this paper is so short
and Im [Im?] so far away that
I have no room for m
scolding and I know very
well that he has no time to
write But tell him to leave
Johns [Johns?] Mary Ann behind
for one evening and sit down
and send me all the news
Tell Mrs Mc Crystal and
Minnie also Rose Ann and
Mary Farnan that I was
 asking for them I have
not much more to say
at present I suppose Minnie
had the Tolan boys before
this as I heard. Jenny was
going with J Quinn Well I must
draw to a close hoping to
hear from yous [you?] soon and with
fondest love to your mother and
Johny and yourself From Yours Ever
                        Ellie O Connor
