Extract of a letter from Charlestown, June 6
We sailed in company from Cork with tour
victuallers, laden with provisions for this
place, where we arrived safe. I have particular
news at present, but that General Clinton
is embarking eight thousand troops
on board near one hundred transports, and
is to go in person to command them. The ship
appointed to receive him is the Romulus, and
two frigrates are to accompany her. What place
this expedition is intended against is not
known, but most people believe its destination
is Virginia.
