County of Antrim was divided into four Parliamentary Divisions under the Redistribution of Seats Act (1885), 48 & 49 Vic, cap 23 The Parliamentary Borough of Belfast which hitherto had returned two members was at the same time extended, and the Borough was divided into four divisions each returning a
member.
Lisburn and Carrickfergus (County of the Town) which hitherto had returned one member each, ceased under the same Act to be Parliamentarv Boroughs.
The figures for 1881 for the Parliamentary Divisions are for the areas then included respectively in the Borough of Belfast (part of) and the remainder of the County of Antrim, including the County of the Town of Carrickfergus.
The areas given for the townships and towns, and for South Antrim Parliamentarv Division and the-Parliamentary Borough of Belfast, part of, are estimated.

The number of electors given is for the entire borough.
(b) The population for 1881 for Larne township includes 721 persons on board the SS.
" State of Nevada."
The vessel was bound from Glasgow for New York and
was in Larne Lough on the Census night.
(c) The remainder of the township of Lisburn, which has been extended since 1881, is in the County of Down.
The figures for 1881 are for the smaller area The-entire township has an estimated area of 1,135 acres, and centains 12,250 persons.
