30 Provisional Orders.


From the Board of Guardians of Limavady Union, for power to
put in force the provisions of the Lands Clauses Acts with respect
to the purchase and taking of land, otherwise than by agreement,
with a view to pro\'iding a supply of water for the town and dis¬
trict of Limavady.


From the Town Commissioners of the borough of Ennis for
power to put in force the provisions of the Lands Clauses Acts
with respect to the pui'chase and taking of land, otherwise than
by agreement, with a view to providing a supply of water for the
town of Ennis.


From the Town Commissioners of the borough of Dungarvan
for power to put in force the provisions of the Lands Glauses
Acts with respect to the purchase and taking of lands, otherwise
than by agreement, with a view to providing a supply of water
for the town of Dungarvan and the village of Abbeyside.


26. In addition to the above, petitions have been received from
the Corporations of Dublin and Belfast, each praying for a pro¬
visional order, under the Artisans and Labourers' Dwellings Im¬
provement Act, 1875, confirming an improvement scheme, which
has been made under the provisions of that Act.


In each of these cases the necessary preliminary proceedings
have been gone through, and the Board have instructed the In¬
spector of the District to hold the local inquiry required by the
6th section of the Act.


27. We approved the adoption of the provisions of the Towns
Improvement (Ireland) Act, 18-54, in the town of Arldow on the
25th April, 1876, and issued the necessary orders and directions,
fixing the number of Commissioners for carrying into execution
the provisions of the Act in that town. Commissioners, however,
have not been elected, and no further proceedings have been taken.
The necessary orders and directions have also been issued to the
towns of Balbriggan and MicUeton, in which a portion only of the
provisions of the Towns Improvement Act were in force, approv¬
ing the adoption of additional provisions.


28. By-laws have been submitted to and approved by us for
the i-egulation of hackney carriages in the borough of Belfast, and
in the town of Bray ; for the regulation of common lodging houses
other than those under the Common Lodging Houses Acts in the
borough of Belfast, and for the regulation of common lodging-
houses under the Common Lodging Houses Acts in the following
unions, namely, Cork, Balrothery, Kilmacthomas, Portumna,
Downpatrick, Limerick, and Ennistymon, and also in the town of
Ballymena.


Supplementary by-laws, providing for the inspection of common
lodging houses by the Constabulary have also been adopted in the
Unions of Balrothery, Kilmacthomas, Portumna, Downpatrick,
Bailieborough, Navan, Belfast, and Athy, and also in the towns of
Lisburn, Ballymena, Cork, and Belfast.

leely, in the county of the city of Limerick, subject to certain
