11 If the amount of local taxation (including sums borrowed in the year and all sources of receipts) in the two countries, in proportion to the population, be compared, we obtain the following results :— Estimated local taxation of Ireland, .

2,067,299 It appears from the above that the local taxation of Ireland is £2,067,299 less than it would be if the scale of local taxation per head of population was the same as in England and Wales. 
It appears also that the rate of local taxation levied in Ireland in 1865 may be estimated at 9s.

per head, whilst the rate of local taxation in England and Wales in the same year may be estimated at 16s. 
9d. 
per head.
