Abolish the Gaol of Newgate in the County of the City of Dublin, and provide Compensation for the Officers thereof, and to enable the Grand Jury of the County of the said City to increase the Salaries of the Chaplains of certain other Gaols thereof, and to re-assess on the County of the said City certain Arrears of Grand Jury Cess.

WHEREAS the Gaol of Newgate in the County of the Preamble, 

City of Dublin has for some Time been used as a Depot for Prisoners under Sentence or Rule of Transportation: And whereas it is expedient to abolish the said Gaol of Newgate as 5 a Prison for the Reception of Prisoners, save as such Dep6t: Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the Author ity of the same, That after the passing of this Act it Lord Lieu-10 shall be lawful for the Lord Lieutenant or other Chief Governor or tenant and
