There are not any other Charitable Establishments in this County, for the support or aid of which Presentments are granted; nor is the County Treasurer informed as to the amount of private Sub-criptions, Donations or Bequests received for account of them.
Schedules of the local subscriptions or donations, verified by the afndavits of the respective trea-surers to each, are lodged, previous to each assizes, with the secretary to the grand jury, who lays them before that body, as the ground for granting the Presentments that are applied for.
Those for the local Dispensaries and Fever Hospitals are under the Act of the 58 Geo.
3.
c.
47 ; those for the House of Industry, under the 11 & 12 Geo.
3.
c.
23, and the subsequent Acts of the 24Ü1, 46th, and 58 Geo.
3 ; and for the Lunatic Asylum, under the Act of the 27 Geo.
3.
c.
39.
It was generally thought that it was imperative on the grand juries to grant a sum to each Dispensary equal in amount to the gross sum received from local subscriptions or donations ; but a difference of opinion aris-ing on this point, it was submitted to the Twelve Judges, who decided, but not unanimously, That grand juries were entitled to exercise their discretion.
And latterly the grants have been in some cases for a lesser sum than the amount of the local contributions.
The County Infirmary being situated at Mallow, I have learned from the treasurer, that his receipt^ for the support of that establishment for the year 1828, stand thus :

Presentments granted by the County Grand Juries ...
